My Client is looking for a Data Manager to be the central point of contact for data queries across their business. This will have a wide range of responsibilities from vendor negotiation to improving data quality and documentation, whilst completing ad hoc data analysis projects. The role will be partially hands-on, however the focus of the role will around be around the commercial side, working with stakeholders and improving the standards of data management and their data assets. The ideal candidate will have good SQL skills, excellent experience working with stakeholders to solve data management issues, experience working with data vendors to bring in new data assets, and good knowledge of data processes in a commercially focused industry.

This role is with a young business in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to work on multiple projects and be able to quickly reprioritise work to changing business demands.


The company provide analytics services to mortgage lenders, real estate investors and developers in the property market . They work both in the public sector, as well as with large Banks/Asset Management firms to analyse their property portfolios. They have around 60 people in their businesses in the UK and Australia and are growing rapidly, employing very sharp analytics professionals for high-profile projects for world-renowned clients.

THE ROLE - Data Manager - SQL

This position is part of Data Science team which consists of data engineers, quantitative researchers, and analytics consultants.

As Data Manager your responsibilities will be to:

  • To work with data vendors on data acquisition, negotiating rates, assessing the commercial value of the data for the business. This will include identifying new data sources which could benefit the business.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and systems that meet the information management objectives for the Company.
  • Identify and implement ways of improving the use and execution of information and data throughout the business.
  • Make recommendations on appropriate reporting tools and practices.
  • Complete ad hoc data analysis projects as and when required.
  • Manage data collection and reconciliation, data budget, data dictionary and data release plan.
  • Identify data quality issues and perform remedial actions.


The successful Data Manager will have:

  • Strong experience in managing data assets and improving data quality, whilst working with a diverse range of stakeholders and developing and implementing information management strategies
  • Demonstrated experience of working with data vendors for data acquisition, including negotiating terms.
  • Good knowledge of data documentation best practice
  • Good knowledge of SQL and Excel
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and Relational Database Design
  • Degree educated
  • Experience in Data Querying, Profiling, and Manipulation
  • Comfortable in working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
